If your Surrey home is rendered but you can’t remember or simply don’t know when it was last done, it might be time to give it a new coat. Render is generally recommended to last around 30 years but in reality can often last for decades longer. However, after time, all that exposure to wind and rain will eventually start to get to it. Cracks appear and softening starts to happen and bits of render can be blown and detach from the walls. This is because older types of render can lack some water resistance and can be inflexible.
So, if your render is looking tired, old and cracked, it could be time to give it a new lease of life. The good news is that modern renders are more flexible, and don’t suffer the same problems that old sand and cement renders can. A flexible layer combined with a choice of modern render types – including acrylic, silicone and lime – means you can protect your home for decades to come. There is also a huge choice of finishes and colours, so as well as adding a protective layer, you can also completely transform the way your home looks.
